Common Problems with Cheap Glasses

If you’re like most people, you’ll try to scrimp and save your dollars when you can. But sometimes those dollars can catch up with you, and cause problems when you least expect them. If you opted for the less or even the least expensive pair of glasses, you might be experiencing some of the following problems, which occur commonly with cheap glasses.

Slipping and sliding.

Slipping is often caused by poor lens to frame match, in which the lens is too heavy for its frame, or the frame itself is a poor match for the shape of your face. Slipping can also be caused by plastic frames, which can stretch when exposed to the hot sun.

Experiencing glare, especially at night.

Cheap glasses are usually missing an anti-reflective coating on the lenses, which eliminates internal lens and surface reflections.

Headaches.

Cheap glasses frequently cause headaches, either because they fit badly, putting pressure on the bridge of your nose, or because your vision isn’t clear.

Vision blurs at the sides.

If you see well when you look through the center of your glasses, but your vision seems to blur when you look through the sides, chances are that your lenses were not ground correctly, or the optical centers are incorrect.
